I wonder if Grok is also the justification they’ll start using for claiming that random fishing boats in the Pacific are actually drug runners

In my fantasyland you would pair them with another device, like a phone, and it would do all the work. The glasses would basically be nothing more than a receiver and a display

I don’t think anyone has the reputation of Fitgirl, but other than her, Dodi is definitely the most reliable name I know of. He also recently said he’s gonna do a soft retirement and not release as much stuff in the future, so, idk, doesn’t seem like the behavior of someone who might be building a botnet lol

If you’re open to piracy, it looks like Dodi has a repack of Syndicate (2012) up. That’s very good news if you’re on Linux; in my experience Fitgirl installers almost never work, but Dodi’s have never failed me.
Load up your launcher of choice (Lutris, Heroic, and Faugus are the three I’m familiar with), run the installer through that, and you should be set.

Explain to me how providing ID to websites is good. Explain to me how this is good for your data privacy. Uploading all your photo ID and whatnot into some private corp or government database, where it absolutely will be linked with your account, which is already grossly tracked across the internet in numerous ways. you’re just asking to have your ID attached to your online activities.
You are clearly not reading the same thread I am. No one is defending those concepts; literally the opposite. You asked “why” in response to the statement that believing government propaganda is bad.
Sure, better parenting is good in a general sense, and parents should be mindful of what their kids are watching, but better parenting won’t stop governments from invading your privacy because they don’t actually do it in order to protect kids. They do it to control people, and they SAY they’re doing it to protect kids in order to keep people complacent until it’s too late. Believing the government when they say they need to protect kids from media is believing authoritarian propaganda.

What explanation are you even asking for? Why shouldn’t you believe fucking authoritarian propaganda? lmao??? That’s like asking why pushing over old people and laughing at them is bad; if you don’t get it, you won’t get it.

I mean, it’s a AAA game. I’m sure that was the plan, and then it was lost in the eternal crunch to meet the launch date.
There’s a reason AAA games all have that same shitty stank, and it’s not because the companies making them don’t have access to talented people.

Oh, I didn’t realize how unclear that was. The disk is a 2TB NVME SSD. I searched and searched, even booted into Mint on another disk and tried to search from there, and could only find a few hundred GB worth of files (probably about 600GB if I had to guess, lol). I genuinely have no idea what could have been taking up nearly 1.4TB of space, so that’s all I meant when I said “only.”
My suspicion is that something was going wrong whenever I deleted anything. Maybe for some reason the data just weren’t going anywhere, even though the trash was empty and they were no longer showing up in their old locations. Hence the term “clogged.” No similar issues with Cachy just yet, though.

Star Wars Battlefront!

More like they saw the potential to ruin most plebs’ already limited abilities to figure out wtf is happening in the world, thought they would be too smart to fall for that shit, and decided they should open Pandora’s box and sell it like it’s Prometheus’s fire

I know, I just like to see the “up to date” symbol in the toolbar, especially on a fresh install. Like I said, I get that it’s rolling release; the problem isn’t the frequency of updates, it’s that this most recent update keeps failing when I try to install it.

I just switched from Bazzite to Cachy today. For some reason my disk space got… clogged, with Bazzite? Filelight was no help so I backed everything up, wiped the disk, installed Cachy, replaced my files, and the disk went from being nearly full to only using 600GB. Still not sure what happened there.
Cachy, meanwhile, has asked me to update 4 times in the 4 hours I’ve been using it. Which is fine, I get that Arch is rolling release, but now on the 4th update it keep failing for some reason. Also I can’t have my headphones and speakers plugged in at the same time or my speakers don’t work.
Sigh. All this KDE stuff is nice and flashy, and my games have worked with both Bazzite and Cachy, so I appreciate that, but damn is it tough for me to make a Linux recommendation to anyone else that isn’t just “use Mint, it’s stable.” Anything more in depth turns into a mini essay (see above!)
Having a GPU is nice if you start letting other people access your Jellyfin server; transcoding for some video files can be tough on the CPU, and if it’s trying to do more than one at a time, stuff can get laggy. But unfortunately, trying to get my ancient GPUs to do anything has been a nightmare! Besides the architecture itself being old, it seemed as though Nvidia deprecated some of the features I needed on the official drivers, and the Nouveau docs have been a headache to sort through. I think, maybe, probably, it’s technically possible, but I’m burned out on messing with it at the moment.
That 970 might be recent enough to work with a little less hassle though!
100%.The strongest PC in my homelab right now is my old gaming PC featuring an i7-4790k, 16gb RAM, and sometimes it has a GTX 680 and others a 730 (neither right now though, for Reasons). 2nd place goes to a dual-core, 4-thread laptop from 2012 with hinges so broken I have to lean the screen back against the wall behind it. And before I retired that old gaming PC last year, that laptop ran my personal Jellyfin server for well over a year with no major issues!
This is a dangerous “skill” to have, though. Very easy to slip into the trap of assuming you know what they’re talking about, only to have them end on a different point than you expected and then suddenly you’re responding to a point they never actually made

In a similar boat, I’ve thought about that but if I ever upgraded to a stronger real centralized PC I’d have to do a bunch of Docker setup and if anything breaks my whole system would go down. As it is, with piecemeal shitass laptops each running individual services I get lots of redundancy!
Stare at the screen? Ugh, my stomach hurts. I’m gonna go lie down.

The fun thing about the flood is that if you spun around and fired off the shitty little assault rifle for about one second, that whole crowd would pop into brown dust
PC gamers haven’t pushed back as hard because the basic facts are NOT the same. The ecosystem is entirely different. I’m not interested in defending Steam or its use of DRM, but the fact that something is illegal doesn’t mean it can’t happen. Piracy is one of the big reasons PC gamers aren’t nearly as affected by the lack of physical media being sold: you just make it yourself. I’ve even pirated games I already own just because it’s the easiest way to have an unmodded install alongside a heavily modded one.
But the lack of options for console gamers doesn’t stop there. Not only are the hardware and software environments completely locked down, but demographically, a much greater number of console buyers are going to be those with bad or no internet. They can’t just download whatever from wherever. If they lose the discs, they may lose access entirely.
