I came from Nextnews which was great (but works only with nextcloud)
I made that app! Glad you liked it and I wish I had more time for it.

Just block it, there’s a bunch of scandals surrounding them and when covid just started, I reported a covid misinformation blog to them that they hosted and they replied they see nothing wrong with it and won’t remove it.
This blog probably caused deaths, substack thought it was fine.

Definitely not great behavior but considering Safari makes up a bunch of their users, they should have really added the playsinline attribute to the video to prevent this. But since this site is made using a pretty crappy site builder, they probably cannot change this until Elementor fixes this bug.

Wtf it just opened a video in full screen on iOS right away. When I closed it and wanted to scroll down I was suddenly dragging an icon. When tapping this icon it opens some „my personas“ dialog which I don’t even understand what it is supposed to be? What even is this shit ass site?
Edit: page title is „Home V2“ lol
Edit 2: Of course this site is made using Elementor, hence the bad performance and buggy layout.

Seriously, name a billionaire who seems like he doesn’t have a potentially undiagnosed mental illness. It’s hard to think of one.

You forgot about the amazing public transport. Fast long distance trains, tiny local trains, towns with random monorails. It’s amazing.

That’s exactly what I do but that doesn’t magically shield me from the bad software running on these machines. The OS is still unstable, tries to apply a bunch of filters that need to be disabled, has extreme lag unless gaming mode is being used and has stupid UI decisions like putting the audio level exactly where the subtitles usually are so that changing audio will obfuscate them. Once every 24h I‘m also getting a warning that the tv is not connected to the internet, despite network connectivity being explicitly disabled.

I mean, they could just let their awesome Copilot vibe code it, couldn’t they?
This is one of the best proofs that the AI industry is full of bullshit. If we can let the AI code everything now, where are our leaps in traditional, existing software?

Not sure if it changed in the last year or so since I bought my tv but isn’t the issue that there are essentially no dumb tvs? The closest I could find were big monitors intended to be commercial public displays but they came with their own set of issues. In the end I bought a smart tv and I it’s quite bad.

Websites have already been „done“ by the GDPR and the companies just implemented the measures with a clear malicious intent, bullying their users into compliance and blaming the horrible cookie banners they implemented on the EU.

Yes that would restore some of the worst changes but the US has been classified as a flawed democracy for quite some time now and I don’t see how it could be fixed without major changes that will certainly be opposed by many Americans as they tend to treat the constitution like holy scripture and would not accept major changes to it.

Yeah but companies want full control and no ad blockers. That’s why they’re pushing shoddy Electron apps over their web experiences and PWAs.

All 4 sticks are dead? How did you do that? Was there a power spike or something? But then I‘d imagine more components being damaged.

I‘m one of them. I already only used Windows for gaming and seeing where this OS is going, made me try Linux again and this time might be the first time I might stick with it, thanks to Bazzite.
Games run incredibly well and compatibility is surprisingly good at this point. The only exception are games with invasive anti-cheat like the new Battlefield. But I guess it’s just a pro that I won’t buy a game that essentially has malware included with it.

There are plenty of good Jellyfin players too. I‘m currently using Discrete and I‘m quite happy with it.

A few months ago the CEO tweeted that he supported Trump and his policies. The most ironic part was that he’s an immigrant himself but lives in Switzerland.
Not sure if anything else happened since.

That’s quite an interesting take. I also noticed that it’s magnitudes better at coding with common frameworks and often sucks with more niche applications.

Meta is also planning to drop its native WhatsApp Windows app in favor of a web wrapper version soon, in what looks like a move to simplify WhatsApp development.
So they are just going back to what they had before, probably to save money.
But don’t they have AI now which makes development so much faster, easier and cheaper? It’s these things where you can see these companies are full of bullshit.
I didn’t try this yet but why the fuck would Reddit even need an ai. Does anyone care? Will anybody pay for it? Or is it just because Reddit is a public company and stonks need to go up?
Can’t happen soon enough. Few people want AI and now it will fuck over a bunch of people very directly. No idea how long the investors can keep inflating this bubble now.
