As of Thursday, the company’s self-driving tech has completed over 1,200 miles without a human in the truck.
That’s not an impressive number. That’s like 2 days’ worth of driving.

It depends on the version of Lemmy that your instance is running. My account is on sh.itjust.works which upgraded Lemmy versions a few months ago. Apparently it changed a parameter name that keeps track if a post has been read or not.
So on Sync, you can click on posts, but they never show as read. It’s super annoying, so I went back to Voyager.
I used to use RiF and loved Sync for Lemmy too. I just wish the developer would fix the bug for posts showing unread! It’s completely stopped me from using the app for something like 6 months now.
There are a few minor cultural differences to be aware of. But as long as you avoid saying anything negative about Star Trek or Linux, you should be just fine.
Also how did they let that excuse get past the technical teams who should be implementing this? They added Star Link to the data center that supports the White House and then have traffic run through hard wires. This does absolutely nothing to improve spots with bad WiFi.
“LONG LIVE THE REAL KING," said the video showing an AI-generated Musk getting his feet sucked by Trump
What reckless journalism. It would be much more accurate to say “an allegedly AI-generated Musk getting his feet sucked by Trump”.
I’ve seen no concrete proof that the video is not authentic. It’s with in the realm of possibility that Elon has two left feet.
Oddly enough, on my first development project I was paired with a “senior dev” who turned out just to be a guy in his 60s who had never actually coded before, so… just a senior.
I ended up doing 100% of the coding, but the guy managed to keep his job for a few months.
I had a management class years ago in college where the professor made the argument that in order to be ethical, every single action a business makes must be done to increase profits for its shareholders.
Charitable donation? Only if it increases public perception in a way to be justified by the cost.
Pay your employees well? Only if paying them less would cause you to lose them to your competitors.
The list goes on. It’s a very depressing way to look at the world. But as time goes by, I’ve realized just how accurate that professor was. Companies don’t give a shit about you and will turn on you the second it makes their quarterly numbers look better.
I don’t understand why they’d make this a separate app and not a configurable setting in Messages.
Exactly, they were taking reservations at the $40k price for a really long time. I was looking to buy an EV in 2021 and at that price, it was significantly cheaper than anything being sold. I laughed at how fucking ugly the thing was, but it was so cheap that I didn’t hesitate to put down a reservation.
Then when it was released, it was like $100k. Ain’t no way am I paying that for that piece of shit. And in the meantime, Elon went full on Nazi. I could kind of ignore his dumbfuckery back in 2021 but not now.
It’s impressive and also a little bit depressing how accurate that quote is from almost 2,500 years ago. Shows humanity really doesn’t change.
Maybe the user was banned because of bad design?
Here’s an image of the playing cards, for anyone who just came to the comments.
Yeah exactly. You can’t force arbitration on a YouTuber or other affiliate because a user agreed to your Terms of Service. I know our legal system is fucked, but it’s not that fucked.
Also worth noting that they don’t actually find you the best coupons available. They partner with retailers to get an approved list of coupon codes that they will allow. So claims of always finding you the best price are just false.
ABC News reported that Trump’s second-inauguration haul is on track to shatter the previous $107m record, as pledged contributions have already exceeded a $150m fundraising goal. Barack Obama’s inauguration raised $53m in 2009 and $42m in 2013, and Joe Biden’s raised $63m in 2021.
Seriously what is up with the German love for sim games? I’ve tried the farming sim and truck driving sim and it just feels like having an extra job that I don’t get paid for.
I was at Chipotle when he was named CEO. Dude came in, coasted off the existing programs we had in place, and tried his best to figured out a way to get something like Doritos Locos Tacos (which they implemented when he was the CEO of Taco Bell).
Ultimately, he contributed nothing expect closing the Denver Corporate Headquarters, laying off hundreds of employees in the process, and moving it to Newport Beach so he didn’t have to commute from his beach home.
Edit: Forgot to add that he made tens of millions of dollars in the process.
Damn that’s interesting. I like how they walked through step by step how they got the exploit to work. This is what actual real hacking is like, but much less glamorous than what you see in the movies.
