Still feels like I’m doing too little, but kinda hate 2fa.
And I kinda don’t want to know if complex passwords and low retries before an account gets locked out are enough.

Only if you care about security, which you should ofc.
Yeah but usually ppl don’t care about one wearing earplugs/anc headphones in day to day life. Especially when you explain why.
Learning how to deal with abuse is a good thing obviously, but I don’t think that we should do that by just abusing people on purpose when it’s not necessary at all. That just has very strong “it builds character” vibes…
Like the earplug thing just shouldn’t be an issue at all. It seems to be one sometimes, but not allowing someone to wear earplugs won’t prepare them to deal with ppl trying to prevent to do that in the future.
But in this case it’s easy to prevent…
I sometimes look up just to see who exactly the name belongs to, out of sheer curiosity. But apart from that I also really don’t care.

Maybe, but in my memories my childhood wasn’t super full of overstimulation. We didn’t have a TV at home and my mom was fairly good at seeing me rested, because if I wasn’t I’d be super annoying to her.
If anything, I was responsible for my overstimulation at home once I had a pc and access to the internet. It probably could be a factor though, because, my then undiagnosed ADHD, usually was only a problem at school. And school was very overstimulating at times.
But I feel I wouldn’t have turned out super different if school and the rest of the world had been less stimulating. Alot of the problems I had could be attributed to ADHD and they started pretty early in school. I can’t remember a lot about my live before school but from what I’m told it was relatively stress free, at least for me. But parents being constantly stressed can also affect their children, so who knows really…
Me since I started studying. I’m trying not to do it much but it’s just so easy to go to bed a little late every day.
And usually the negative effects just aren’t there when I’m on my meds. Moreso when I’m out and about all day, then when a less busy day comes around and my body unwinds a little it all catches up to me.
I once did a whole bunch of research looking into turning my old gaming laptop into a Nas/Homeserver.
And buying the supporting hardware to get more than the three SATA ports it had (mcpie adapter and SATA card and a power supply) would have been more jank and expensive than buying a used desktop in a big case and using that instead.
I’d say it does make sense, the only thing I lost is power efficiency, but I’m trying to not think too hard about that :D
With the right software most consumer hardware can be a decent server, although not having ECC ram kinda sucks. Usually most motherboards have enough SATA ports for a few drives and if not, just add a PCIE card that does.
even unzipped folders
That sounds super interesting, does it keep the folder structure intact? Because having to zip a folder to be able to download a folder with its structure intact is super annoying.
Edit: Oh it’s just for uploading, still very cool though.

I’d write it down / take photos just in case… But also remember being able to swap SATA cables without anything breaking. It’s been a while since I had to fiddle with the hardware though, so that memory isn’t super reliable.
That would only work if I’m the only one using my hosted stuff, but can’t really expect non tech ppl to deal with stuff like that.
They already struggle with the little 2fa they have to use. Introducing yet another system is too much to ask.
