I don’t need that much storage. Maybe there’s big data applications, but a human can’t really do much with that space. I never filled a 2TB HDD and I was packing some serious TV shows onto that bad boy. Felt like the heyday of piracy. Left it somewhere as with all these things.

I ‘run’ a small plex server for myself, family, and a handful of friends and 2tb would be suffocating. One hard fought request for a certain TV show can wipe out a TB by itself. 30TB starts looking diminutive very quickly.

Yeah the complete Breaking Bad blu ray is something like 1.5 . Terabytes sound like a lot but they can fill up quickly when you’re downloading instead of streaming.

That’s the way it goes. Baldur’s Gate 2 was like 4GB. Baldur’s Gate 3 is 120+. And I think about phone cameras and the quality they shoot, I just cleared 2022 of my phone and it was like 60 Gigs. More space available, but everything just gets bigger. It’s like inflation.

Same here, I don’t need much at all but I’d love if this would drive down prices of 8TB drives so that I could have an affordable all-SSD NAS.
