The only cases in which it doesn’t go to sleep with a closed lid are when you connect an external display or disable sleep entirely: sudo pmset disablesleep 1

Just install Amphetamine on your Mac, duh
Why when caffeinate comes preinstalled?
If you close the lid on a MacBook, it ignores caffeinate and goes to sleep anyway. The only cases in which it doesn’t go to sleep with a closed lid are when you connect an external display or disable sleep entirely:
sudo pmset disablesleep 1Shoutout amphetamine, awesome little app.
No need to install a separate app:
sudo pmset disablesleep 1
