Technology@lemmy.world•OpenAI's AI spending spree has ballooned to $750BEnglish
14·20 days agoYour first comment is a bit disingenuous. Renewables are being installed at a record pace, solar is being installed at a record pace and for most of the country solar makes the most sense as we have large amounts of cheap land but a few wind projects get cancelled and you try to imply Trump has had some sort of disastrous effect on the industry. If wind is more expensive then solar and solar is a better fit and the government is subsidizing those projects they should be cancelled and the money should go else where. But a couple cancelled wind projects isn’t a big deal. Perhaps you just don’t like Trump which in that case just say it.
Edit: I read your comment history and I hit the nail clearly on the head… Just say what you wanna say lol

14·20 days agoSource??? Cause every link I find shows installs continuing to grow.
Here you go though https://www.eia.gov/renewable/reports.php#/T1099
I would say it shows total installed sources had stalled but renewables continue to grow

8·23 days agoDo I need the other expansions to get this one?
This was one of the reasons I went to kinoite. Part of leaving Windows was to get away from all their slop… The other part was to get away all the forced updates. I don’t wanna be forced to update if I don’t want too
Edit: to illustrate your point look at the stories of people who can’t use virilization anymore because they took out virt-manager and QEMU but did a horrible job of telling people and then stuff updated.
Now they rebase to -dx, layer the packages or go someplace else.

Linux@lemmy.ml•KDE 6.7 / Wayland: I love being able to configure different panels and dedicated widgets on my secondary screen
4·2 months agoI have KDE on two of my computers but don’t really understand what you’re talking about. I keep reading though about the awesome paneling KDE has.
Can you explain more what you mean or give a link that explains? Maybe my use case is too basic but I don’t use anything beyond what I ever used in windows and I feel happy. However people talk about this all the time so I really want to learn

Technology@lemmy.world•Spammers are flooding Reddit with fake posts designed to show up in AI search resultsEnglish
4·2 months agoI just thought about this… They made it so hard for me to make an anonymous account I moved here. The AI accounts have more tools at their disposal to get around this and have more incentive to so they stick around. They’re little going to fill their site with bots while getting rid of a good portion of their human uses because of their shit practices.
Further when you sell out to using you data to build AI models what do you expect to show up after?
