You’d be better suited just having a user select that they are comfortable dating a trans individual because it will likely come up very early in the dating process anyway.
Forcing someone to identify as a gender that doesn’t make them comfortable is just going to result in them not using your app and is frankly kind of a dick move overall. Your suggestion would just create an app that was suited for chasers, not trans users.
I came into this with no context and was very confused for quite a while until human users added the necessary background.
I had assumed it was an autistic individual solely using an odd AI to communicate, but the reality is so much worse. I hate everything about this and I think the optics of even describing a bot as “autistic” are so incredibly poor and reflects negatively on the entire community.
Or you could just not be an asshole? Because autism has nothing to do with it and this just makes you an asshole regardless of the situation.
Ahhh I had a bit of a, didn’t read the article, moment and that was the missing context for me. I appreciate you clarifying!
Maybe I’m misunderstanding, but this referenced ad post is over a year old. There’s been “organic” guerilla marketing by advertisers on Reddit for almost a decade now. How is this relevant to the recent changes?
Just to add to what Daemon provided in the post, aside from hitting the comment button you can also hit the ‘view source’ option from the comment drop-down menu in Jerboa and it will show deleted and mod/admin removed comments as well in plain text.
Not sure if this is intended behavior or not as I actually appreciate the ability to do so. It helps to not lose context in conversations with deleted/removed material while still providing a small barrier to a casual observer.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who found the world resets frustrating. I agree that the world is interesting and atmospheric, but as someone who enjoys thoroughly exploring, the resets just kept ruining my immersion into the world. Maybe one day I’ll go back to the game.
Glad you enjoyed it! I didn’t think to include the link originally and mostly wanted to make sure OP wasn’t trying to troubleshoot what’s likely a platform specific issue 😅
Yeah, some people have a tough time understanding and empathizing with those with smaller social batteries in general. I would imagine that introducing a physical ailment of some sort would make that problem doubly as bad.
In response to your edit, here’s a link to the original post. Let me know if it doesn’t work for you still!
It shows correctly for me on a native Lemmy account on mobile at least.
The commenter is being a jerk, but you’re misinterpreting the point they’re trying to make. Twitch has a had a lot of issues with rules enforcement since the introduction of the ‘Just Chatting’ section when it comes to sexual content. What’s considered acceptable has only ever been nebulously defined in the TOS really.
Because of this a lot of disproportionate bans have happened on women simply for existing, largely affecting smaller streamers because large ones generally just get a slap on the wrist. On the other side of the spectrum the rules have also allowed for a lot of loopholes being taken advantage of, like for example the hottub craze. The other commenter is not exaggerating when they are saying that people stream themselves pole dancing and doing strip teases.
Whether you agree or disagree on the level of sexualization that should be allowed on the platform, what’s considered acceptable use definitely needs to be more rigidly defined for the benefit of everyone.
How else will they push their UFO conspiracy theories? It didn’t work the first dozen times so might as well keep trying.
People in general have a hard time conceptualizing how large and empty space is. With our current propulsion technology it will take longer than the human lifespan, barring any absolutely groundbreaking cryonics developments, to reach even the Oort cloud of our own solar system.
I think in the next century, a reasonable goal is to have small sparsely manned mining outpost settlements on Mars. There’s enough financial incentive where I could see a future where it happens.
Unless it was a few very specific US states, this isn’t really relevant. The minimum age to sign up for an account on Twitch is 13.
