Have you tried LSP? I’m super impressed by it and it can be a drop in replacement for many pro-grade technical plugins. That and reapak have pretty much replaced everything for me.

I have a T14 gen1 ryzen 7 (only 16G of ram for now), with integrated graphics running bazzite. Civ 5 and 6, rimworld, FTL run flawlessly. Anno 1800 is a bit laggy, but playable. I also do some sim racing and no complaints there either, if graphics are set just right, so I think that the bar for hardware is pretty low. As for hardware, not sure what I’d go with, but I’m sure there is no need to go overboard. For software bazzite is amazing if you want near hassle free gaming.
As for accessories I have a keychron keyboard which was a worthwhile investment and a Mionix 3200 mouse that’s over 10 years old, still amazed at the build quality and value for money. A good keyboard mouse combo is invaluable.

I’m sorry, but could you please elaborate? I’m not being facetious, I truly don’t understand what she’s saying/doing.

Love the idea! Shopify as the highest tier sponsor? Not so much.
Not sure there will be any.

I have been using a t450 for the past 5 years as my only pc. For about 4 years I used Arch without any major issues, but my “optimizations” became too much to maintan. For the past year I’ve been using Kinoite and it’s brilliant.
Everything runs good enough out of the box and in my daily use I haven’t noticed that I’m running a 9 year old machine. I even play games that should have no business running on that crusty old thing. Also, the stability is divine.

The hypersub sounds difficult, but it’s really easy. I know you are hungry now, but it’s worth it to wait a few years. We’ll make enough hypersubs for everyone by 2028.

Oh, rise up in that sense? I thought we were just sedentary. Now, where did I last see my sunglasses?

I’m looking into restomods myself. No need to buy a new car and rip it up.
Is the spark plug still good?
Never Gonna Know.

Exactly what it needs to be…

I wish google was as good at procrastinating as I am.
Just last night I was playing around with the Tukan plugin collection and they are mental. Lots of very good sounding clones and models. I haven’t checked the drum stuff, but I did play around with the bass and guitar stations and managed to dial in some serious high-gain wall of sound type tones very easily.
Another way of getting good tones is simply obtaining high quality IR-s and just loading them in a suitable plugin. If you have a reamp box and access to some nice amps you can even create your own.
You could also do something similar for the drums. Just get some nice samples, load them into any old sequencer and you got yourself a drummer who’s never late or drunk. Then again, you lose the out of the box experience, but you only have to do it once.
I regret not switching my audio workflow to linux much earlier. A few years ago I got rid of everything Microsoft and started working with Reaper stock plugins exclusively. Not as pretty, but basically anything can be done with some fiddling. Only now I’m exploring the JSFX and LSP options and I’m hard pressed to find anything that I miss from the days of expensive plugins. Made me a better engineer as well. Less distractions, more listening and measuring.
