Apple. Can run bare metal Linux now
Apple. Can run bare metal Linux now
I had an old windows AME install on a separate drive I forgot about. Updated grub in peppermint (Debian) voila all of the sudden my windows was added , no fuss at all. Simple nowadays
Peppermint , Debian based , important stuff there but still slim , shit just works
Damn i have a Twitter account somewhere. Never uploaded anything at least
It’s done for Windows, in work on Linux and android as far as I know. Android is really bad , Linux so so . I use Firefox on Linux but not android. mainly since you get both chromium webview and Firefox , but Sandboxing an issue as well.
Ok , first switch to Linux. Wait wait here me out :)
Do a dual boot system and switch in between until your ready to move.
Your windows install should be windows ameliorated , i.e windows AME.
This removes everything from Windows , included updates. Can’t use latest office and unsure about gaming issues. I got it since I had one corp software I was forced to use.
Only way to actually stop windows shit.
Check out peppermint OS. Runs on most hardware , lightweight and easy. Debian based , stable and got most things you might need. Easy transfer from Windows since a bit prepared for using web-based stuff
Double the code, issues and attack surface. A lot better way to address the issue is using the same better webview for all. Many benefits by FF will be nulled by the system webview. Feels like fake sense of security/privacy.

Explains a lot also
Exactly. So using both
Using ESR version , I have not seen any issues lately. On peppermint Debian based
Cool, totally missed that. But the issue of running both still applies right? Double the code. Viewing a site in a app it will use the chrome one ? " Google does not allow a third party to implement the System WebView and the GeckoView API is not compatible with the WebView API in a very meaningful way unfortunately, so this is not possible. "
https://github.com/mozilla/geckoview/issues/167
I should probably specified android webview in my original comment…
Just want to chip in on the mobile browsers. A big issue is that webview is chromium based. So even if you use Firefox on android , you are using chromium/chrome plus Firefox.
Options on mobile would be vanadium (only on graphene I believe) or bromite (on F-droid). Bromite has its own webview separate as well , crashed my phone many years ago , no idea about it now.
On PC (Linux) I use Firefox with chromium as backup. Also fuck brave ,why support shady bigots if you can avoid it?
Ok so why not just donate to the Foss apps instead? The huge amounts that went to sync would have made any Foss app at least just as good.
You do you, I just don’t get it.
In really don’t get it, why use it? Good UI? Really, that’s it?
Used DNS adguar before , now I use proton VPN which has it built in with netshield
It’s close source so no
Aurora store works without microG as well.
Never thought I would say this but my next one gonna be apple silicon
Haven’t tried myself but looking at a Mac for next time. Seems to be great experience and hardware integration somewhat up to speed. GPU issue is tackled a while back. https://asahilinux.org/ https://macdailynews.com/2022/04/26/asahi-linux-on-an-apple-m1-mac-mini-is-unbelievably-fast/ the fedora version was launched a few months back so I assume there is a lot to do. But active development and usable
