I’d argue that the Fuck_AI crowd who slanders and also sexually harasses people are helping them. I hate this big tech companies just as much as they do. I’m not going to sexually harass someone I think is using their service though.

It’s worse than that. They’re not just pretending about their abilities for clout. They’re actively following their emotions and attacking people they don’t like with AI accusations or just plain old harassment. I’ve been sexually harassed by these assholes.

I don’t think you should defend him. Integrating spam defense is a cover to censor his ideological opponents. The best lie is the one wrapped in truth. You shouldn’t frame any of what he did as being for good reasons. He hid it from the rest of us, made it look like an error message, and took steps to stop people from patching it out.

That’s no what someone with good intentions does. That’s what someone who knows it’s wrong but tries to hide it does. Including spam domains in it can be seen as a way of hiding the rotten stuff and it gives trolls like him something to point at when it gets criticized “It’s a spam blocklist, you must be a freeze peach troll if you’re against that”.

This is giving him too much charitability:

A lot of that domain list is real spam defence. It filters conservatism as well as communism. “It targets the left” doesn’t survive the data and I’m not going to pretend it does.

Thank you for putting in the effort to help curb this problem. I know it’s unpopular but automated moderation is unfortunately needed on Lemmy and in the fediverse or people will abuse the system.

The house in the picture that was posted looks exactly like my own, I’m inclined to believe it was mine. Which is scary, not just because it was my house posted 3 times on a public forum but because someone would need to know me personally to either A. Know what My (deleted) Facebook is called, or B. Know where I live already. In either case it means it’s someone who knows me personally in the real world. Possibly someone who’s been in direct contact with me and gone through my phone. Which creeps me the fuck out.

I’m deleting this thread by the way because I’m noticing assholes using it as a place to debate the morality of this, which is absolutely shitty and disgusting.

I don’t know what world you’re living in where it’s legal to post a picture of someone’s house and where they live, but in most places this is a crime, and it is a crime where I live.

I never shared any of that stuff here ever. I’m not even sure how they would’ve found it unless it’s possibly a real life stalker. Would’ve had to be someone pretty close to me to get into my phone to see my profile here.

I did call the police when it happened, maybe they’ll be able to do something but somehow I don’t see this going anywhere.

pict-rs doesn’t seem to copy images except as thumbnails and these were comments. If the admins remove the pict-rs entries on programming.dev they won’t be accessible unless someone saved them.
