HTC is releasing a standalone headset this year. Pico 4 Ultra can easily be ordered online (such FBT). I think Samsung is announcing a standalone headset as well.

Somewhat related: Pico’s full body trackers are due for release soon. No PC or base stations necessary.
Several new headsets are coming out this year. It will be interesting how things play out.
Pico 4 Ultra?
Worst case you could still import one. The Pico 4 is amazing as it is for PCVR.
Most of the responses on that site are toxic, so I tend to avoid it.
Hopefully they’ll be able to release this one in the states. Meta needs competition!
Don’t ask, tell. “I have to go, I’ll be back in a few hours”. Then leave. You are not making a request.
This is so true. Oddly enough, if you’re motionless but looking through a microscope, those same exact managers will think you’re killing it.
That depends on who you believe their customer to be.
Quest is indeed where the money is at. But most (all?) of those games are also on Steam and look a hell of a lot better.
My point is that Meta isn’t really offering anything compared to what you get with other headsets. Sure they were the clear winner in the Quest 2 days but now, not so much.
Perhaps it’s just a lack of marketing then. I’m not aware of anything new since AC. And there didn’t seem to be much before that. Did San Andreas ever come out? I bailed on their platform after a year so if they’re only pushing ads to their own headsets I haven’t seen em.
Steam is where all the good games are. Any headset that doesn’t support it is basically doomed. At least in the adult market.
A super expensive headset with no software didn’t sell well? Who would have thought? Sony did the same shit with the same outcome. Even Meta stopped making games and is now watching their sales tank.
Every company wants to make a headset so they can get rich but not a single one is making software that anyone wants. And they don’t understand the gaming industry apparently so they try to offer productivity and AR bullshit. What people want for a VR headset is games and porn. Why is that so hard to understand?
I just went to nhentai .to and nhentai .net from TX and was immediately shown naked anime children, so no, I don’t think that site has figured anything out unless I got the domain wrong.
Owning a dozen or so websites doesn’t make them a monopoly when there are tens of thousands of porn sites available.
There are countless models over the age of 22 making bank in the porn industry. The only difference is that they have talent.
In addition, the porn business is hot right now! So many people just got cut off and are now paying for content.
I’m not necessarily opposed to needing a third party account for a game. VRChat for instance requires it but that makes it easy to use your same account on many different devices/platforms.
That said, Sony has a long track record of leaks, hacks, terrible and outright illegal practices and is generally shitty to their customers. So no, hell no, I will not sign up with them for anything.
Because Google has gone to shit and everyone’s desparate for a replacement.
Sony has a long history of braindead decisions that have fucked over their user base.
That feeling you’re experiencing right now is how I felt ages ago when the windows key became a thing.
