I would say it’s worse than that. Like knowing that you are selling exp boosters changes the calculus on how exp is earned. If the game played smoothly, there would be no need to sell the boosters and creating the eco system to support it would have been wasted. A system where certain items are nft based would push for these items to be better then the non nft items both for expectation of value, and to raise the trade value to siphon from. This already happens with games with dlc cosmetics. The gear in the games looks increasingly shit compared to the DLC. And that is a natural consequence of polluting the game space.

But why honor other companies tokens? Hell why honor your old tokens? You make the effort to create assets in your new game, are you going to just give it to a limited number of players who play both game for free, or resell it to all players? If you buy an nft for a game that then gets ignored, was it any different then a DLC, or using the steam market place to trade the item? After all i have read i don’t see where this helps players at all, and for companies, the only benefit i can see is if they pump and dump their players.

It’s more of recognition that the internet is not the Wild West it used to be. Your anonymity is dependent on how much you are worth to track, and that value shrinks every day. If you want to buy cheaper video games, or watch geo locked Netflix content you are fine… for now. But the US government has been offering VPNs for people wanting to be anonymous for a wile now. So its not extreme for china to do it too.

Probably, but any thought that VPNs keep you anonymous to anyone other then script kiddies and minor companies is fool hardy

Sensitivity to stimuli is a known facet of non neurotypical people. It can also be a sensitivity to anxiety. The blog specifically romanticized the need to not be seen as an extra sense that normal people do not have, because it just can’t be in our heads. And the allude to science backing up that claim pushes it too far.

Possibly, but they lost me at people on the spectrum having super human senses not available to neurotypical brains as a means to explain why the feelings of not wanting to be seen is not ‘mearly’ anxiety. Then mention to nebulous “studies” to back them up without citation.

I am sure that a VPN can obfuscate my location. But its a hassle that most people will not do. And you must not be in Virginia, because you would know that the ISP did not need to get involved. Use your vpn and spoof as in VA. You will see the companies comply with the order to remain legal. The reputable ones have a vested interest to stay legal, and can be reached via legal means. The ones that pedal revenge porn and other exploitation? Not so much. The amount of sites that are not reachable is very large, when your search would begin at the 4th page of a search engine query for porn, you are no longer in safe waters

In Virginia, they are required to gather personal information and that’s weird. So its just not available here. But when you think of it, porn hub went to great lengths to minimize the problems with the industry. And these sort of regulations are doing the same thing that prohibition did. Push normal citizens into interacting with seedy elements, dangerous situations, and exploitation.
