That’s not completely true. I’ve had a fling with Vivaldi for a long time, but only for casual browsing on bookmarked sites I visit regularly (think forums, etc), but for anything serious, it’s obviously Firefox only.

I always liked Vivaldi a lot, but I guess it’s about breakup time. It’s a damn fucking shame.

You’d be hard pressed to find someone who thinks I’m not a “techy” person either, considering I’ve been building machines since the early pentium era.

For posterity, I can mention that Opera and then Vivaldi were the first two “not IE” browsers I ever switched to for myself. Got in some trouble as my parents thought that “I had deleted the Internet” (their exact words…).

Those were the days, heh.

It’s a damn shame, I’ve always liked Vivaldi otherwise. I’ve been dual running Vivaldi and Firefox for years now, Vivaldi for casual browsing and Firefox for more serious stuff + YouTube.

Oh well, it’s time to do a full switch, I guess.

Kinda funny, I’ve been doing the exact same thing with Win/Linux for approximately the same length of time. Needed Win because of dome software that just doesn’t work linux, and sadly, I still do.

Nokia just extended their existing contract with HMD for several years. Doesn’t seem like they’re going anywhere in the foreseeable future.

I love to read though. All day long if I can. Also in the top 0.1% when it comes to reading speed. Guess why? Nothing wrong with my comprehension either.

I live in Finland using Android on a Nokia and I can switch Gemini off completely and choose to use the old Google Assistant instead. It did initially appear out of nowhere when they patched it in, but I could immediately turn it off with the same prompt that the other guy also got.

If it’s unavoidable it seems to be an US only thing atm.

I agree wholeheartedly and I also signed late while being Finnish.

From what I’ve gathered here and elsewhere they never really went full throttle on all that stuff for most of us here in the EU.

Now don’t get me wrong, W11 is utter shite, and I had to essentially build a new computer from scratch to even get it running properly, but I still haven’t seen any ads or any other bullshit like that.

This is exactly why my old computer is merrily running Mint, and it likes it.

Edit: If it wasn’t for the fact that I happen to primarily use Cinema 4D for work I wouldn’t even have bothered, probably. Relearning 20+ years of software flow for the other options seemed silly at the time, but I would’ve reconsidered had I known what a mess W11 would become for me and in general.
