I knew we’d be waiting around for our friend to arrive so I took an activity with. It was to do stuff in the real world. I would’ve been taking my deck with anyway so I had something to do on the train journey, 2 controllers wasn’t an enormous amount more space.

As someone who brought my deck and 2 controllers with me on a trip with my friend, I’m the person in the advert. We were killing time waiting for another friend and we just chilled somewhere we could get food and drink and played indie games

Steam@lemmy.ml•72% of devs believe Steam has a monopoly on PC games, according to studyEnglish
2·19 days agoYes, but by pushing back on monopolies in the first place, you ensure that there are other options if one turns sour. Steam is great for now in a lot of ways. That can change - and if it does, we only really have GOG to fall back on, and their platform isn’t nearly as mature as steam.

7·3 months agoWe may have to coexist with them from a logistical standpoint but we do not have to tolerate them. The paradox of tolerance is that we must not tolerate the intolerant.

5·3 months agoA brick is approaching a Nazi’s teeth from an initial distance of 10m horizontally and a velocity of 10m/s. You may assume the absence of air resistance and treat the brick as a point mass.
Calculate the initial angle(s) required to remove the most teeth and determine whether the Nazi can complain about the tolerant left before a brick removes their ability to speak.

2·5 months agoOh, for sure. It depends what you need it for. A lot of people just want a pi for something like a pihole or a stats dashboard of some kind (that’s my use case, anyway). You get what you pay for and sometimes you’ve gotta pay for what you wanna get.

1·5 months agoNot super familiar with the gpio side of things, and I also haven’t dug that deep into the space lately since I already own my rpi and it works for me so take all this with a pinch of salt, but I found some options that seem reasonable
- Libre Computer Le Potato
- Orange Pi Zero 2
- Radxa Zero
- NanoPi R2S
- Banana Pi M2 Zero

Linux@lemmy.ml•Must fight temptation to buy an overpriced raspberry piEnglish
10·5 months agoYeah, my pi sips energy very sparingly. Even an old laptop is going to be drawing more just to power itself, never mind what I run on it.
That said, pis are a poor value proposition nowadays and there are better options for the same use case
