Do you guys in the US not have laws protecting you from shit like this?

We cannot stop collecting data about you because collecting the datum that you want to stop having your data collected failed.
I wonder if the situation in Europe is different, where such bullshit is illegal.
Is this the plotline of Lost?
The website is quite tight-lipped regarding features. What’s a ‘smart playlist’?
I’m not sure anymore how I got into a state where that was necessary, but do keep a reference around for how to boot Linux or Windows from the Grub command line.
You vastly underestimate the tolerance of an average user who barely knows their way around a web browser and Word.
sudo maintains ‘sudo state’ for 15 minutes. After that you need to enter the password again.
14 days ago I tested Ubuntu. I couldn’t access my Wifi. The network was visible, but it refused to accept the password. (Yes, I quintuple-checked that I entered it right.) When I tried Linux Mint, it worked on the first try.
Moral of the story: Drivers are hit-and-miss on Linux, too.
maximising profit is not why we grant them copyright
That’s the only reason copyright exists. Because society decided that if you’re the one to put work into developing something, you should be the one reaping the profits, at least for some time.
It remembers the last input and defaults there.
It never occurred to me that TVs might not do that.
I am a sky-high developer and know little of such low-level APIs. Please humor my ignorance: Isn’t it bad practice to write a god-method that sometimes uses these parameters, sometimes others? Isn’t this better refactored into multiple dedicated functions?
Finally! I haven’t had to maintain servers in the last few years, but I had to when the switch to ‘nginx Pro’ happened and all of a sudden basic documentation was buried in the who-knows-where.
This is actually funny. Imagine some automobile vendor misbehaving in some way and all other self-driving cars make a beeline for them just to ruin their crash statistics.
I’m fine with the DRM. But why does the window need to open and take several seconds to “connect to the friends network” for a singleplayer game? This doesn’t need to be a blocking process.
Pretty please
Now can we get steam not opening when we launch a game?
With everybody and their grandma shoving their cloud into your face, I’m happy there still are flash drives for sale.
Recently I saw a meme or post or tweet that I can’t find anymore. The gist was: In the 2000s, search engines were arcane tools which could only be used competently by few select people. Nowadays this has changed. Not because people have gotten smarter, but because search engines were dumbed down so much that it’s not possible to use them competently anymore.

Yes, they do. Lawyers in the US did, citing invented cases in court.
Why the fuck would they name it PRISM?
