The arms race continues.

I agree, which is why I use the f310 instead. best in price. I’ve got 6 of them for smash bros.
these are also the people who would pay more for quality service if it was available.
did anyone ever actually assume that “open” wasn’t a lie?
don’t buy it?
… They weren’t before?
It’s current year, I should never have to touch the terminal for anything. I don’t care that it’s powerful, my brain is already full of windows knowledge and I don’t want to have to google what command I need to perform basic functions. Everything needs guis. If there’s a gui, I can figure it out and also discover tools I didn’t know about along the way, which allows me to solve future problems without going insane.
That’s popular sentiment though, so how about one that I don’t see often: Add options to allow windows like behavior. For example, middle click paste is the bane of my existence. I should be able to change it to middle click scroll os wide, not just in firefox. I know that there’s a hacky workaround to kinda make it work, but it sucks.
Boo fucking hoo. Everyone else has to make licensing agreements for this kind of shit, pay up.
As a person with a full time job, a significant other, and several hobbies, I just don’t have time to invest in learning a new operating system. I grew up with windows (95, 98, xp, 7, 10), so that’s what I’m familiar with. I recently switched to linux (mint), and it’s fine. Just getting started though is something that was rather involved, and I would never expect a normie to be able to figure out. If microsoft wasn’t insisting on making win11 a dumpster fire, I wouldn’t have bothered. Now that things are running smoothly, there’s some minor annoyances that I’d really like to change, and the prevailing sentiment from the linux community is “that’s just how linux is” or sometimes “here’s a hacky workaround that barely works in only certain controlled cases”. It’s better than it was 10 years ago, so there is that.
Studios need to remember that their shows are advertising for merch and toy sales. That’s where the money is. If I pirate your show, then you don’t have to support the infrastructure to provide me a stream (which would look like shit because you’re not google). I buy posters and tshirts and stickers. Some people buy minifigs and funcopops and other plastic tat that’s cheap to make but sells for, well, whatever that crap sells for.
Furthermore, I wouldn’t mind paying $10 or $15 /month for ONE streaming service if it was able to maintain good picture quality at 1080p AND had all the shows/movies I wanted to watch in one convenient place. Extra emphasis on ‘convenient’. Even more emphasis on it actually having content I want to watch. When I watch a show, I like to watch the entire thing in like, two days. Then I’ll not watch any shows for two or three months, until something gets my attention. I don’t want to pay for a service I don’t use, cancelling and reactivating a service every couple of months is too much hassle, so I’ll just wait until the show is done airing and download it all and watch it at my pace.
surprisingly, I miss dvds.
Well, i hate it. Every single phone I’ve had sucked compared to the one before it, ignoring the capabilities of the soc. I miss my pixel4a compared to my current pixel6a. When I had a galaxy7, I hated it compared to my galaxy2. Nothing compares to the original droid, that was the best phone I ever had.
Now there’s a new phone? I bet i’ll hate it.
I used to pay for youtube premium. My logic being that I was using an adblocker anyway, and I wanted the content creators I watched to get some kind of revenue for my watchtime. Youtube stopped taking my money a while back, and I can’t be bothered to figure out why. These days, there’s so little content that I find interesting that I spend more time scrolling than I do actually watching videos. It’s only a matter of time until I just stop regularly going to youtube.
malicious intent
This is the year of the linux desktop!
By our powers combined, we’ll exceed 2% market share!
(no actually, please support linux. I just switched like a month ago and while it’s so much better than windows there are so many petty annoyances that will never get resolved unless more people bitch about it and that kind of support needs more users)
when was the last time you installed windows? Also, what version? If you’ve only ever had it set up for you, then you may have only used windows that had already been cleaned of all the bullshit. This includes pc s provided by your work.
For win10, the install iso provided by microsoft puts ads for games in the windows store in the default start menu. I have installed many win10 pc s over the years, and candy crush (among others) is always there.
Even if the different gear were sidegrades to each other, that would still be better. Keep the main ones that you craft yourself as is, but then have findable versions that you can’t craft that have the same or similar stats but very different aesthetics (and possibly enchant bias). That would already make exploration more worthwhile. Armor trims are a step in the right direction, but making the schematics fragile is just a slap in the face. Actually, gear fragility really shouldn’t exist at all, but that conversation can happen another day.
Completely unrelated to my other comment, and more related to the actual post, I think looking at Factorio’s upcoming world generation changes may be a source of inspiration on how to do this better. Mojang won’t ever do it because it would take actual work for something most people won’t notice, so it’s up to the modding community.
Factorio may be a 2d game, but its world generation is done in 3d and then flattened.
Look at Factorio Friday Facts number 401 and scroll waaaaaaaaaaay down to the section on Natural Paths.
Exactly. If there’s anything that we can point to and say “humanity, fuck yeah” this is it. Giving thanks to aliens or to gods is an insult to the hard work of the HUMANS that accomplished this.
Especially when the cheap or free service is better than the expensive service.
