I’d love to have one too but I live in the city now instead of the suburbs. My car is parked on a concrete pad in the alley behind my house, a good 80 feet from any electricity. I could probably charge at work though by just parking in the warehouse and plugging in to one of the many extension cords we have around.

Same here. I’ve had mine for a few weeks and I love it. The battery life is amazing too, I charge it once a week.

Which book? I’ve never heard of him before today but after reading a few articles I’d like to check out one of his books. Googling sends me quite a few results.

I played about 10 hours of it but I never finished. I like Chained Echoes a lot more tbh.

Chained Echoes is perfect for this situation.

I’d look at Telltale-style games. They’re roughly 10 hours each ( five 2-hour ish episodes) and are almost entirely story driven. The gameplay is usually very simple. You choose dialogue choices to drive the story.

The best Telltale games are in my opinion: The Wolf Among Us, Tales from the Borderlands, The Walking Dead, Batman: The Telltale Series and its sequel, Batman: The Enemy Within. They’re also releasing the first episode of The Expanse (based on the TV show since the character Camina Drummer does not exist in the books) later this month.

Another series that is very much that same style but by different devs is the Life is Strange series. I’ve played the first one and the prequel called Before the Storm. They are very emotionally heavy stories so I’m taking some time before I can go into the sequels but I absolutely love that series and will preach it to anyone who will listen.

10 hours is definitely short but it also helps that they are all done in 2-hour episodes so you can easily take breaks.

Is there an article I can read? Besides hating video in general for getting information, also fuck TikTok.

The only reason I didn’t mention it is I haven’t played it. Not sure I’m ready for another round of emotional decimation just yet lol

Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm are some of my favorites.

The older I get the more I prefer linear games. I’m playing FFXVI right now and I’m actually quite happy at how linear it is. Couldn’t finish XV because the map was too damn big.

I also use Podcast Addict, I recommend it.

LevelCap has a great video about how 3 guys made a better battlefield game then EA/DICE. I had fun the one night I’ve gotten to play so far but I was kind of drunk so I didn’t do very well. I’m a Battlefield player of many years and it’s the most fun I’ve had playing since 4.

My wife went out of town for a weekend so I decided to re-up Gamepass and download a bunch of stuff, mostly older games. What ultimately brought me back into actively wanting to play was Dragon Age Origins, a game I beat several times but a long time ago.

I was mildly excited for it until I played the demo. Now I’ve got Friday night set aside to play it.

However many it takes to beat them. I typically don’t replay games, and I don’t play into those insane multiplayer games that require hundreds if not thousands of hours. I beat one, I move on. The only exceptions are NHL and MLB, I play those on Friday nights with some beers to decompress from the week so I have a disproportionate amount of hours in those, but I also don’t buy new ones every year; maybe every 4-5 years. I really bounce off of games that are too long or too big, though. No game needs to be 100 hours long. The last time I did one of those was Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and that’s the last time I’ll ever do that.

That is an absolute steal, these games are so good.

I’d go a step further and see if anyone here has recommendations for the best RSS readers. I’ve never used one, and I’m wary to take any of the ones offered in the Android play store that are going to shove ads in my face. I’d love a quick guide to set them up properly, too. I’m a luddite when it comes to this apparently because the last one I installed, I couldn’t get it to grab any of the links.

EDIT: I installed Feedly and it was easy to set up. I don’t need it to do anything but grab articles I’m interested in and it seems to do that just fine. I’d just like to be able to unfollow all news/politics subs on the fediverse and stick to articles only. Thanks for the input to everyone who replied.

A big positive is that it is the reason I’m dipping into genres I don’t normally touch. I’m playing Chained Echoes right now, which is a modern-day 16-bit RPG. I normally don’t bother with those, because if I’m at my PC with a 3080TI in it, I’m not playing a 16-bit game, and my PS5 is already building a bit of a backlog with so many good games coming, so I don’t play smaller games when I’m on my big plush couch, I want to play stuff that takes advantage of the hardware and tends to be more cinematic. On Deck, I’m playing these smaller games while laying in bed next to my wife while we have the TV on. It’s also nice to take to hotels when I travel for work, which I used to take my PS5 for. The hotel TVs always suck and you can’t adjust any settings so it’s nice to not be lugging the PS5 around any more.
The only drawback is the weight; my wrists start to get tired after 45 minutes or so, so I need to sit up or adjust my position to keep playing comfortably.
