Calico wasn’t what I thought. The 3 (turn into Cat) won’t work if you get shot until 5 sec after which makes it pretty useless. The other 3 moves are strong but feel clunky to me. Surprisingly Holliday is the one I think I may add as my 3rd chooses but haven’t actually played her in a match yet
Damn that’s sad to hear since I want to move over to Linux and will be doing to when they stop supporting windows 10.
With the game still being a play test I’m hoping they’ll try to optimize it better on Linux for the full release.
Might need to try calico, turning into a cat and healing a ton looks hella fun especially since the other abilities looks strong.
Sinclair looks like he’ll be a high skill ceiling character. Turning enemies into rabbits is pretty funny too.
Glad to see they dropped new hero’s finally. I think it’s what the game needed to draw more players back and I know it sounded like hero labs was pretty dead so think they might as well just drop the hero’s into matchmaking and balance them that way, it is still technically a play test after all.
I never played hero labs so pretty excited to try out the new hero’s!
Couple thoughts as a Wraith main:
The ammo + spirit ammo is a really good combo for some characters like wraith.
The 2 main risks are:
I’m thinking of putting it back in my build to free up a gun slot (removing basic mag) but haven’t done it yet since I’d need to switch a mid/late game item to replace titanic mag.
Think all of these were expected at least by the streamers I follow so not too surprised.
Think there’s a few changes they want to make that are a bit more complex which is why they’re no longer doing a major patch every 2 weeks.
I’m interested to see what those are since it feels like they’ve tweaked soul mechanics enough and it’s in a good spot, there’s still some OP characters but nothing crazy, etc.
My guess is they’re going to start to add the lab hero’s to the full roster and that’ll possibly start to have cascading effects they want to be able to focus on.
Yeah it was probably OP before but now I don’t really think you ever take it unless you really never need gun slots.
Extra regen is my preferred for healing since you can kind of stay active but I know some prefer healing rite.
I’m excited to find more lore about the patrons and world in general for deadlock. Like Ivy was literally a gargoyle turned to life and viscous is from the deep sea escaping from some huge threat down there.
cCrazy the kind of world they’ve started to build.
They’ve nerfed this a bit recently but still feel likes it’s pretty solid. I play wraith/support Ivy and take it on both since being able to melt guardians/walkers quickly is good.
Wouldn’t say it’s a must have since there’s a lot of characters where this isn’t a huge benefit for their playstyle.
I typically sell it mid/late game since once the walkers are down you’re probably wanting something else and are getting to the point where you’re running out of open slots but for 500 it’s good value.
I feel like the core gameplay mechanics are near finalized so we won’t see huge changes in soul mechanics to the degree we have been. Probably still small to mid tweaks for a few months.
I haven’t played hero labs (don’t get as much time to play in general with being a dad now lol) so might be off a bit but would think most of those characters move to the main roster during the first half the year.
I expect more skins and some kind of progression tied to skins at some point in 2025 to help with retention. I don’t worry as much about the steam charts as some do with it being a playtest but I do think they can’t let the player count drop too low. I select the “high quality” option for queue or whatever it’s called and while it takes a little bit for a match mine have been good so I’ve been happy.
My guess is characters, probably the tankier ones like Abram’s/ Warden and maybe shiv Geist and a few others.
Haven’t seen it called out anywhere, wish they’d include that since a few characters can be built in very different ways.
Yeah Geist was already really good so a bit odd they gave her that. Feel like you need to have your team focus on taking her out mid/late game fights.
I really like the wraith ult rework, fits Wraiths aesthetic better.
Feels a bit more fair, it no longer just holds them in place with 0 counterplay available and instead smashes them into the ground right away. But it gives them silence and disarm for a bit longer than the original ult so you have a bit longer to make a play but it’s more of a chase now.
The maxed out ult also only gets a max of 2 players as opposed to the aoe hold that was possible before, overall probably a healthier way to have it work.
I’ve heard that since opening up the hours it’s difficult to find a match for most players. Think the small window they had before concentrated enough people to play it but now that’s not happening.
Think they wanted to dissuade from the death ball meta that was happening where teams would group up and just take walkers 1 by 1 because of the soul sharing changes and the increase in souls gained per kill.
The walkers weren’t really that hard to take down that way and there wasn’t much downside.
Now with the lower sharing %, lower gained per kill, and buffs to walkers resistance based on the number of attackers it balances things back to where you don’t really want more than 2 in a lane for long until end game team fights.
Yeah solo queue was so refreshing and it’s dumb that you need to run a command prompt to get it to work. I will say it felt like it worked in my games yesterday just annoying that you have to do it on startup EVERY TIME. It should just be a setting.
Lot in here people we’re asking for
Lot more I haven’t got to
After 8 matches today I’ve noticed a much better match quality than the last 2 weeks.
The previous week was nearly unplayable with every match having 1-2 players just 0-10 feeding making things impossible for one of the teams.
Today pretty much every match went 40+ minutes and didn’t have anyone that was clearly overmatched. I’m in a region with a high player count so I’m sure that helps.
Big change to all hero’s: All heroes base gun damage and growth reduced by 10%
Feel like that should’ve been on top lol
