I solved this by just keeping all kinds of details as a variable state and consider alternatives ahead of time. Yes, i’m also quickly exhausted.

Well yeah, that’s because i am processing, recalculating plans, loading new behavioral profiles. Sry, that can take a minute.

I don’t mind going-out plans shifting because I basically sort everything into “Staying in” and “Going out”, and the latter I know is just going to be random nonsense that I have to roll with, so it doesn’t really matter what it is. The one that gets me though is switching from staying in to going out with no notice. That makes me super irrationally mad lol, I need prep time!

I can never tell which of these are super normal and which are autism. Surely some people are bad at adjusting to change at the last minute?

Most of them in isolation are normative. Together and intensely maybe less so.

It depends on the complexity of said plans.
If you want to go to a different museum - I’m fine with that.

If you want to change the whole vacation destination on the other hand…

Ok, but if you ever do that thing where you save your favorite food item in the meal for the last bite, you are super autistic.

It’s overwhelming and makes me panic, especially if it’s last minute. It really needs to be discussed before hand.

Edit: oh “no time”/“yes time” I just understood… forget the rest of the message 😅.

Intellectually I agreed. I even remember that I agreed. But if nobody is with me when the time comes to do what was planned, I may still do the other thing.

To take the image, it’s like if I downloaded the patch but never installed it. It’s here, all the informational are there, but they won’t play a role in my acts.

It’s very unnerving for others, but even more for me.

I have learned to cope with a lot of stuff, but every now and then this one still gets me. Last time it happened when I was facilitating a training, and my co-facilitators changed something on the fly and my brain fizzled out, lol

I have a friend now who does this. He gets so angry about it as well and since I know him best he always vents to me and says why do we always change things. He eventually apologizes and expresses he just cant handle it.

The worst one was last year we were taking 2 cars with 6 friends to a place for a weekend. Original plan was that i was going to pick him up and 1 other person thats near him and go up. Then our 2nd friend who was driving got out early so we could all go and i said in the chat sweet can you get the 2 near him and ill now get the other 2 and we all meet at a place to eat first before driving up. He side text me how wrong it was and why do we always change things until i said in the main chat ill just take the original ppl nevermind lol. It was just more convienent because the orher friend was closer to them and i was closer to the other 2, but even different cars made his mind freak out.

sounds just like him. thing is some of it was not even plans it would be like he would suggest some generic activity and someone would have an opporutnity like free tickets to something and he would be upset. Or like if other people came along. The rest of us pretty much were more the merrier and lets do what seems the best thing to do when you get to that time like friday or sat night. I mean its freakin high school man.

Well, I “blame” bottom up processing. Of course the whole Mindmap has to be updated / replaced. And afterwards I am exhausted and angry.

Don’t get all worked up it was just a suggestion I hear them say.

One of the reasons we are being disabled by others 😒

(vs. We are disabled as autists)
